Aizu International Ladies Association (AILA) began in a small town, Aizu Wakamatsu city in Fukushima, northern part of Japan, in 2008 with a group of five ladies who met informally to discuss common problems (P-visa, SSN)and concerns about their foreign spouses and bilingual children. After many get-together, the ladies realized their unique life-style and experiences could be a vital source for multicultural education in the community, which is an old and historical Samurai town in Fukushima prefecture. Soon after, their passion for promoting multicultural education and diversity in individual value grew considerably and became known as the Aizu International Ladies Association.
